While reviewing the Kelana Jaya Lake yesterday i was fortunate to see this pakcik land this giant sucker. He caught with a rather simple set up. A line with a talon. Not even a reel. Only managed to get three shots of it as he was in a rush to take it home before it died.
Giant Snakehead Alert!
He landed it quite quickly. Any guesses to the weight?

Here’s my catch from yesterday evening’s casting session in Taman Aman. I practice my casting there in the evenings and i have come up with a plan of not going home empty handed anymore.
So while I’m casting for haruan, peacock or a toman. I’ll normally set up a net for some prawns. I think its in season now. I got four good sized ones which are in my tank now.
Do join me there if you can!
Here are some of my latest catches (or haul) from my saturday morning trip to Taman Aman (Paramount Lake)
I did not focus so much on fishes as it was a bit rainy and to be honest the prawns were biting more.
Some people say that the best time to actually get these crayfish are during rainy season. I think they might be right.
Quite a satisfying haul.
Keep it simple here. No need to use rotting chicken feet or spare parts. The most effective food here would be Dedak. Please keep the prawns in clean water for a week before eating them. This is to “detox” them.

Here’s couple of pics of animals caught in paramount garden. I use the word animals as I did not just only land fish. Believe it or not the first thing i veer caught with my bait-caster was a clam. Here are some pics.
The first ever thing i caught with my bait-caster. I threw it back anyways!
The “Ah Pek” swore to god that h was fishing for prawn and it was his “misfortune” that he landed this.
The second picture does suggest that there is a healthy population of peacock in the lake. This juvenile suggests so. I am yet to see anyone land anything larger so far.
Tonight i will be looking for a good sized one. There is another theory of mine that this population has been introduced. I also have my sights set on my nemesis the monster toman that got away.
I did get a quick glimpse of him quite recently. Mistook his head to be that of a turtle.
For those of you in PJ and you enjoy fishing. Please visit this park.
- As Promised here are some pics of our recent trip to the mines wonderland.
Here are some of the bass we managed to snag.
Today was my trip to the mysterious Pulau Carey. I found this place to be an anglers gem. I have no idea on what the crowd is like over the weekends. If it is very minimal than this is a place you must go to.
A man made industrial green haven if you like. The air is fresh and bits of it remind me of what Ipswich used to be like.
Here’s a commentary from what I saw and snapped
Greeted by well lit greens and a opulent blue sea
Here are some pictures of good-sized catfish caught in the canal behind Palace of the Golden Horses.
This was not taken from the recent trip we had there though.
I have this attractive model that parades the fishes for you.
