ALERT! Fish here at your own risk! This place is a no fishing zone!
Today’s reconnaissance involved possibly the most unsettling place to fish in Malaysia and myself. Unsettling here would be because of the unwelcoming vibe that some foreign security services offer. Very blatant with their words these amateur firm employees tend to always have a puzzled look about them. Virtually no know of what they do besides seat warming.
That aside, today’s site is an extension of the great Mines lakes. In November we featured the canal thats opposite of the Palace Of The Golden Horses https://sivakumarkulendran.wordpress.com/?s=mines. This lake however is situated very near the Australian International School of Malaysia (AISM). To better describe some more. “Right Across The Road From Mines”.
I made my way across to the opposite bank after parking my car in the parking lot only to be greeted by one of the most cleanest lakes i’ve ever seen. This takes a prize in my books.
With such clean water and very minimal litter i was starting to worry if they allowed angling here. I brushed aside all my inhibitions and proceeded with my reconnaissance.
Something worth pointing out again here is that the water is so clean that its not funny. Its good as fountain grade water. Think of the Canals in Geneva grade clean. Maybe 2 grades lesser than those. Still top notch in Malaysia!
The lake is a good sized one. However being public anglers we will only be able to use about a fifth of the lake. This is because the rest of the lake is surrounded by opulent villas. I strongly advise not to trespass and use the angler ingenuity that can be very outstanding at times.
There is a promise of good sized fish in these waters. I witnessed a lot of surface activity from both tortoises and fish. However there was something very intriguing that happened.
While i was standing from this point i witnessed a giant splash in the water. It was quite audible and i heard it clearly too. Uncharacteristic of Tomans one has to experiment with a series of baits to lure the monster.
Although i was not able to get a good look at the fish species in the lake a sign of what’s in store can be viewed from funnily the canal inside the Heritage building.
Here are some images of the species.
Will get more information on how angler friendly this place is. So far there are no obvious signs that prohibit fishing activities. However being in Malaysia, people like to make things up as they go along. No stopping from fishing there but i’d like to hear it from the horses mouth.
